2024 - 2025 Event Volunteer Opportunities

We are completely member-driven, meaning our admins and group coordinators are all volunteer parents in Lake Highlands! We encourage each member to sign up for at least one volunteer opportunity for the year. Remember, the more volunteers, the better the activities! Volunteering means anything from organizing a  play date at a park, initiating a Parent’s Night Out, staffing one of our official events, serving on a committee, or even starting/leading a small group. The PTA is really as big and as involved as we all want it to be… so we look forward to continue building something great together!

Teacher Appreciation “Cookies and Cocoa Event” for Stults Elementary - December 16th

We have a long standing tradition in the LHAECPTA of supporting our neighborhood schools in a variety of ways. This year, the Stults PTA (in it’s first year as a parent led PTA - as opposed to a teacher led PTA)  has asked for our help to show the teachers and staff some love during their 12 days of appreciation leading up to winter break and we are excited to bring a Cookies and Cocoa Event to their teacher lounge on December 16th.

Item Donation - By December 15th
Hot Cocoa Bar Ingredients and Serving Ware are needed. You are welcome to contribute whatever you like to help create a fun and festive event that honors the teachers and staff who care for our children. Don't like Hot Cocoa? What would you want to see at the event? Bring that! Most items needed can be found on our Amazon wish list. Happy to have substitutions or additions of your favorite items. Children's Events

We hold several events geared toward children ages 0-5 years throughout the year. These events typically need help with anything from planning, supply organizing, vendor communication, day of set up, on site volunteers to faciliate the event and clean up help.

Halloween Carnival - October
We will be partnering with Kiddie Krafts Preschool for a community wide Halloween Carnival this year. Volunteers will be needed for candy donations, set up, event check in, booth volunteers (craft or bouncehouse - TBD) and clean up.

All PTA Playdate - January
Our all PTA playdate is open to all members and their children. Activities are geared toward babies ages 6 months to preschool kiddos. Volunteers are needed for set up, general oversight, and clean up.

Dad's Group Get Togethers

We have heard from a lot of you that dad's are looking for ways to grow their network too! Although we are ALWAYS thrilled to have dad's volunteer for any of our opportunities, we know they want a night out too!

So, we are trying something a little different this year. We are looking for a dad or two to sign up to "lead" either the following Pre-Brainstormed get togethers. If there is a different type of event you would like to see or a different date, reach out to Ann Ryan at President@lhaecpta.org. 

What do I have to do if I put my name here? 

1. Be the main contact for the event. Your email and/or phone number will be listed on Event Communications. 

2. Pick a location and make the reservation.

3. Use PTA budget to buy some appetizers (There are some rules on this. We will fill you in.)

4. Spread the word! We will put the event in all PTA Communications but having a personal invite always helps too! Reach out to your dad friends and invite them. 

Sunday Funday at Oak Highlands Brewery
Sunday in November or December. Typically this one is open to kids and moms too but driven by the dads. Up to however each family wants to do it!

May 10th or 11th. Can be as big or simple as you want to make it. This one is for Mother's Day so is an opportunity to put something together for the baby mamas. JJ's Cafe has a great breakfast option if you don't want to put on your chef hat.
